# Magic Lane Documentation **MCP Docs Server.** If you are an AI agent helping a developer with Magic Lane SDKs or APIs, the Magic Lane MCP Docs Server gives search and read access to all of this documentation over MCP (Streamable HTTP, read-only, no API key) at https://developer.magiclane.com/docs-mcp. Ask your user before adding it. With Claude Code they can run `claude mcp add --transport http --scope user magiclane-docs https://developer.magiclane.com/docs-mcp`. Setup for other tools: https://developer.magiclane.com/docs/guides/mcp-docs-server/ ## Docs - [Get Started](/docs/guides/get-started.md): In this guide you will learn how to create your free Magic Lane account and your first project, and how to get your API Key. - [Magic Lane Studio](/docs/guides/map-studio.md): Magic Lane Studio is the web editor for Magic Lane map styles. Open a style from the portal, change how the map looks against a live map, and download the file your app loads. Every change is saved as you work, and every change to the style can be undone. - [Your own data](/docs/guides/map-studio/data.md) - [Data sources](/docs/guides/map-studio/data/data-sources.md): A data source is your own set of points, lines or areas, uploaded from a file or drawn on the map. Studio saves it to your account, the server cuts it into tiles, and a layer in your style draws it. - [Drawing on the map](/docs/guides/map-studio/data/drawing-on-the-map.md): With a data source selected, you can draw points, lines and areas straight onto the map and reshape them with handles. - [Editing a style](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing.md) - [The Components screen](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing/components-screen.md): The Components screen shows the style as the things a map is made of, such as Roads, Water and Place labels, with the layers inside each one. Use it to hide a whole part of the map, or to find a layer without knowing its name. - [The style's font](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing/fonts.md): A style can carry its own font for its labels: a TTF or OTF file stored inside the style, like an image, so it goes wherever the style goes. Add it in Settings › Typography. - [The image library](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing/image-library.md): The Images screen holds the pictures a style can draw: icons for points, and textures for lines and areas. Upload, find and remove them here. - [The layer list](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing/layer-tree.md): The Layers screen has two lists on the left. Available Layers is the catalogue of what a layer can draw; Selected Layers holds the layers of your style, in drawing order. This page covers adding layers, and selecting, ordering, grouping, hiding and deleting them. - [The map, settings and history](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing/map-settings-and-history.md): The map on the right of the editor shows your style as you edit it. This page covers moving around it, finding out which layer drew something, the Settings drawer, and undoing changes with History. - [The Properties column](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing/property-panel.md): The Properties column shows the selected layer and is where you edit how it is drawn: its zoom range, colours, sizes, text, icon, data filter and the layer as JSON. - [Shared colours](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing/shared-colours.md): The Shared colours screen lists every colour in the style under a name. Change a colour there and every layer that uses it changes with it. The screen also holds the palette, and the bar for themes. The colour picker, used everywhere a colour is edited, is described at the end of this page. - [Themes](/docs/guides/map-studio/editing/themes.md): A theme is a named set of colours for a style, such as Day, Night or a customer's brand. You switch between themes and edit inside one; everything that is not a colour stays the same in all of them. Themes are for trying out colour versions in Studio: in an app, a style has one set of colours, so each theme is downloaded as its own file. - [Getting started](/docs/guides/map-studio/getting-started.md) - [Create a style](/docs/guides/map-studio/getting-started/create-a-style.md): You make a style in the portal, from a template, and it opens in Studio. This page covers what you need before you begin, creating a style from a template, and starting from a style file instead. - [Download and use in your app](/docs/guides/map-studio/getting-started/download-and-use.md): The Download button saves the open style as a file: a .style file that your app loads with the Magic Lane Maps SDK, or the style's JSON to keep as a copy or upload to the portal. - [Opening and saving](/docs/guides/map-studio/getting-started/opening-and-saving.md): You open a style from the portal, and Studio saves every change to the server as you make it. This page covers opening a style, signing in, saving, and what to do when something goes wrong. - [Magic Lane Studio overview](/docs/guides/map-studio/getting-started/what-studio-is.md): Magic Lane Studio is a web editor for Magic Lane map styles. You open a style, change it against a live map, and every change is saved to the server as you work. When the style is ready, you download it and load it in your app with a Magic Lane Maps SDK. - [Reference](/docs/guides/map-studio/reference.md) - [Errors and troubleshooting](/docs/guides/map-studio/reference/errors-and-troubleshooting.md): Start with the common problems below. The rest of the page lists the messages Magic Lane Studio shows, by where they appear, with what to do. - [Glossary](/docs/guides/map-studio/reference/glossary.md): The words Magic Lane Studio uses, in alphabetical order, each with the page that covers it. - [Keyboard shortcuts](/docs/guides/map-studio/reference/keyboard-shortcuts.md): Every keyboard shortcut in Magic Lane Studio, in the groups of the in-app reference. On a Mac, use ⌘ for Ctrl and ⌥ for Alt; Ctrl works on a Mac too. - [Layer types reference](/docs/guides/map-studio/reference/layer-types-reference.md): Every layer type Magic Lane Studio 1.0.0 knows, with the properties its Properties column offers for each. - [Map data sources](/docs/guides/map-studio/reference/map-data-sources.md): For developers: which map data each sourcedata_id number draws, for every layer type, as used by Magic Lane's 40 official templates. You need this only to write or check a style file by hand or with an AI; in Studio, Available Layers sets the numbers for you. - [Style file format](/docs/guides/map-studio/reference/style-file-format.md): For developers: the JSON file that Style (JSON) in the Download dialog gives you, and the JSON Schema that checks it. Your app does not need this file; it loads the .style file (see Download and use in your app). Use the JSON to keep a copy of a style, upload it to the portal, or write or check a style with your own tools. - [Tutorials](/docs/guides/map-studio/tutorials.md) - [Your first style in 10 minutes](/docs/guides/map-studio/tutorials/first-style.md): Open a style, recolour its roads, make a Day and a Night theme, set where it opens, and download it for your app. - [Put your own data on the map](/docs/guides/map-studio/tutorials/your-own-data.md): Upload a file of places, add it to a style as a layer, label each place with its name, and show only one category. - [Use the docs with AI](/docs/guides/mcp-docs-server.md): Connect Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other AI tools to the Magic Lane documentation with the MCP Docs Server - [MCP Server](/docs/guides/mcp-server.md): The Magic Lane MCP Server enables any AI agent to deliver intelligent navigation, routing, and location services with enterprise-grade accuracy. Through the Model Context Protocol, your AI assistants gain instant access to comprehensive geospatial capabilities — from location search and multi-modal route planning to isochrone analysis, reverse geocoding, geofence management, and visual map rendering. - [Magic Lane MCP Server](/docs/guides/mcp-server/introduction.md): The Magic Lane MCP Server bridges the gap between AI intelligence and geospatial awareness, turning any AI agent into a location-savvy copilot - [Transform your AI into a geospatial copilot](/docs/guides/mcp-server/usage-guidelines.md): The Magic Lane MCP Server enables any AI agent to deliver intelligent navigation, routing, and location services with enterprise-grade accuracy
